I chose to go to the Martian Luther king jr museum and decided to express my opinion on the statue The Stone of Hope. The stone of hope is a statue of Martin Luther king jr who was an iconic civil rights activist in his time. This statue has many different elements in this “replica” like statue compared to the actual statue in Washington D.C.
The medium of this statue is granite and has a certain technique that appears to be a chiseling method. Which the tactile qualities of the sculpture are smooth. I believe this is interesting because the technique used was chiseling therefore how it is smooth in the front if chiseling took place. While this foreground is smooth, the part where Martin Luther king jr is, but the stone in the background is somewhat rough from a visual view. This is because in the back and derails of it being chiseled but not all the way through the medium. There is also shallow space used. The sculptor engaged in a lot of the space provided because they only left the back and a little bit of flat granite on the sides. This statute indicates it being static because of the pose that it is using. The pose that the statue is in is not showing any movement or signs of movement.
