HOOK: Hey do you know that kid who everyone considers “weird” that sits in the back of your class who is always biting their nails, wears old clothes and shoes, always smells like alcohol and cigars. You probably always walk past them like nothing and make as if they don’t exist and if they are irrelevant.You probably even have nicknames for them, in which are not nice. There is a pattern here and nobody is doing anything to help it. Most school shooters have experienced some form of violence or abuse throughout their lives, some even suffer from mental disorders, as stated previously. We have to take into consideration that a lot of these massacres are premeditated and they are planned previous to them taking place. Nearly 50 percent of homicide perpetrators gave some type of warning signal, such as making a threat or leaving a note, prior to the event. We have to take steps to prevent these massacres from happening and it starts with looking and reading for any signals or indications that they have ideas of causing harm to others. According to some research done at Alfred University, some of the top reasons that cause lethal violence in schools are because, they seek vengeance for those who have hurt them, they are victims of bullying and they suffer some sort of mental illness; 62% agree that most shooters do not value life. This study also mentions that 89% of the population believe that white students are most likely to be the perpetrators.
