On the 110th birthday of Adolf Hitler on April 20th, 1999, the most notorious school shooting in America occurred. Eric Harris and Dylan Kelbold shot and killed 12 of their peers as well as a teacher at Columbine high school in Littleton, Colorado. The tragic event sent shockwaves across America and lead to massive changes in public school safety. Serious discussions of having SROs (School Resource Officers) at every school and combating gun rights were some main takeaways people had after Columbine. These issues, however, were not the way shootings like Columbine could have been prevented.
The Conservatives had 5 leaders from 1997 and 2010 and there are many reasons for this. This essay will explain why using 3 important factors in particular which were the most vital reasons for this. One day, one child, one gun, one school. Now, as saddening as it is to admit, we live in a world where school shootings are a part of everyday life, and there is nothing being done to stop them. As most can recognize, most of the media is more focus on what the President is going to say after the shootings happen, rather than focusing on what we as a nation are going to do to stop these tragic events. A week ago, when the news of the Florida shooting popped up on my phone I instantly felt the pain of how tragic this incident was, but I wasn’t shocked; which itself is a tragedy. In the age we are a part of now, violence is slowly becoming something we often hear about. This doesn’t make the events any less unfortunate, but it does say many other things about the way we have started to live our lives. Why have we let ourselves come to the devastating point of not being shocked when we hear about a shooting, let alone a school shooting? These schools are filled with kids, many of who in the eyes of the law aren’t even adults.
On February 14, 2018, America was struck with another merciless school shooting. A 19 year-old Nikolas Cruz gunned down his former (was expelled at the time of shooting) high school, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. There were 17 victims that will forever be in the hearts of their fellow classmates. Nikolas later after the shooting blended into the crowd, and then went to a subway and ordered a drink. Now right in that very moment, there is definitely something wrong with the security system in the high school.

School shootings are why this is in the news for the first place. My stance on gun control is that it is not going to help with all of these shootings and crime in the US.

The organization claimed that the school shooting at “[Marjory Stoneman Douglas High] is the 18th school shooting in the U.S. in 2018.’” (Cox and Rich). In less than three months, there have been eighteen school shootings. This shows that schools are no longer a safe environment.

John Calvin was the successor of Martin Luther as the preeminent Protestant theologian but unlike Luther, Calvin was known for his intellectual, unemotional approach to faith, and his religious teachings emphasized the sovereignty of scripture. He lived in Geneva briefly until he was forced to leave by the anti-protestant authorities in 1538, but was then invited back to Geneva in 1541.
How many innocent children have to be brutally murdered before it is enough? This has been an uprising topic in today’s society since school shootings are so prevalent. From Kentucky, to Oregon, to Colorado, to Florida, the safety of our nation 's schools have been shattered by gunfire. The ones who have committed such horrible crimes have done these actions for many different reasons, at different times, and at different schools. Yet, they do have at least one thing in common.
Would you want to live in fear? Especially at a place that you feel safe. A place that you are required to go to by law. A place that children roam the hallways, learning and having fun. Can you imagine, going to this place every day, until one.

The first known school shooting was at the Texas Tower at the University of Texas in 1966 where Charles Whitman shot and slaughtered 16 individuals while harming 31 others. Since then there has been over 1,000 deaths due to school shootings. There is certainly an issue with school brutality today. The most recent three years have demonstrated to us that brutality in our schools society is more typical today than ever previously.
