Having a baby is a very big responsibility there is so much to it than just changing diapers and wiping noses. Getting pregnant might be the easiest part if your fertile but everything after that is far from easy. “ A teratogen is a substance that your exposed to that can have an effect on your unborn child. Some big things that you should stay away from while being pregnant are; Alcohol and cocaine. The reason why you should not drink alcohol while being pregnant is because your unborn baby can be born with deformities in the face, arms, and legs. Also if you drink high amounts of alcohol while being pregnant your unborn child can have a heart condition, develop a learning disability. One of the biggest effects of drinking alcohol; while being pregnant is your child developing Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder can cause ‘low birth weight and small head size,face and mouth deformities,flat shape of the face,delayed growth,bone, joint, or muscle problems,hearing or vision problems,genital, heart, or kidney problems’ according to Aboutkidshealth. The reason why doing cocaine while being pregnant is because it can cause “miscarriage, fetal growth restriction, and problems with the development of the urinary system or genital tract.” according to
