Abortion One of the most controversial topics in American politics, abortion has had a complicated history of rights concerning the welfare of both the mother and child and the conflicting views it presents with them. In 1973 the supreme court issued the Roe v. Wade decision establishing abortion as a constitutional right and uplifting restrictions in the states. In 2023 the Roe v Wade decision has since been overturned and with it, protests of women’s rights, human rights, and religious rights have been brought to the forefront. What led to these decisions to overturn the constitutional right to abortion and how did the topic of abortion get to this level of controversy?

Abortion has always been a controversial topic, and with debates from the recent presidential election bringing abortion back into the spotlight, it is clear that people have varying views as well as a great misunderstanding of abortion. Often, the morality of such action is widely discussed, and stones are quickly thrown. I believe that abortion should be legally and safely obtainable in all cases for women who feel it is the best path to take in their pregnancy. During the 1960 's and 70 's with the coinciding civil rights movement and women’s rights movement, abortion became the new national issue that we still see today between two opposing ideologies, grouped into sides coined as pro-life and pro-choice. It is one of the biggest debates over whose morals and beliefs are adequate for our society that make the abortion issue such a controversial and divisive one. Each side believes that their views and beliefs are what we are a society should follow and belief.
Abortion is one of the most controversial topics of all times. There are two types of abortion, Spontaneous which takes place naturally and induced which this essay will mainly present. Induced abortion is defined by the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. I believe that abortion should be legalised and accepted in all countries for different reasons such as; it 's cruel for raped women to go through with pregnancy, The mother has the right to choose for herself as it is her body not anyone else’s, a young girl is not ready for the responsibilities of womanhood and finally the health of the woman is more important.
Hook Let’s say the government chose what you wear, what you eat, how and when you sleep, what career you pursue and who you marry. Wouldn’t you deem this strict? Unfair? Stupid even? Why then do we believe that we or the government should have a say in a woman’s choice of aborting a fetus?
Today I will talk to you about three main non-religious reasons as to why abortion should not be legal. First I will talk about life and how it starts at conception, then I will talk about how not having enough money or there is a possibility that my child might be born with a birth defect are two example reasons as to why abortions should not be done., and finally I will talk about the alternatives. In recent years abortion has become a conflicting issue. During the past several years due to its tremendous rate of increase, it has become a frequently talked about topic.
