Secondly, Louie is now stranded in the Pacific Ocean and is defiant to the thought of giving up on himself and the others that are stranded. In this example, Phil shows how defiant he is in Louie. Out of all the crewman on the plane, Phil portrayed that Zamperini was the man he wanted beside him on the raft. Unlike Mac, whose actions indicated weakness. Additionally, the quote is showing us that Mac was a pushover compared to Louie’s heroic actions.
From 1696 to 1725, Peter the Great was the best leader for Russia. Most importantly, Peter was a great guy because he westernized Russia. Peter was the first man to introduce the newspaper in Russia. Because Peter wanted to westernize Russia, he made the people of Russia change clothing so his country would look more like the west. During his westernization, Peter also brought in advanced education for his people.
Both Catherine the Great and Peter the Great sought to enhance and further Russia’s international position. This I believe is most consistent with classical realism as they both sought to place their country in a more powerful position, through the expansion of both their state abroad and within their nation-state. These readers without a doubt westernized Russia, but were limited by the constraints of the Russian culture and power structure. The first issue I would tackles is the attempt of Peter the Great to establish Russia as a formidable regional power by taking the traditional metrics of power such as a more centralized government and modernizing the Russian military.
Peter the Great made many contributions to Russia’s economy. Whether those contributions were good or bad is the question. The actions that Peter the Great took he did them to further Russia’s economy. Since Russia’s economy was behind all the other countries around it. He did things like studying abroad for education, Building up a navy, and increasing trade and industrialization.
He concentrated on many areas including developing science and technology, encouraged trade, modernized the alphabet and produced the first newspaper in Russia. He was adored by many in Russia and especially in St. Petersburg. Although Peter the Great was a harsh man who inherited his titles through his father, who died at a young age where his leadership, education reform, military accomplishments and government reorganization to Russia certainly shows he deserved the title of “the Great”. As a young child and Tsar of Russia, Peter discovered the importance of knowledge and
Holden thought about James Castle when Phoebe asked him about what he likes, Holden randomly think about the two nuns and James Castle, but this is not a coincidence. James Castle is a Holden’s classmate at Elkton Hills, whom died nobly, not surrendering to Phil Stabile and his six friend’s oppression and violence about taking the word back about Stabile. Similarly, Holden seize the adult world with phoniness, and struggle though out his teenager life, willing to sacrifice himself to save children from falling into this phoniness world. Readers understand the significance about Holden’s worship to James Castle and is motivated by his action, but Holden sees very limited information about the significance between himself and James
Peter the Great was born on May thirtieth, sixteen seventy-two in Moscow. Peter’s half brother, Ivan V was the one next in line to be tsar, but the government wanted Peter to be Tsar since Ivan V had a disease causing him to have seizures frequently. They became co-tsars after Feador had passed away. A rumor then spread that the Naryshkina family had killed Feador. This was Peter the Great’s family.
Another difference was that Qianlong decided that during much of his reign he would focus on building up the arts. The emperor was known to make paintings and write poetry in his spare time. Peter the Great on the other hand knew how far behind his country was and focused solely on making them a large global power. The tsar did not have the luxury of being secluded from most of the world so he was afraid of what could happen. Because of this fear he is very well known for building up a huge military
Paul Revere was the one who started the midnight ride and it spread quickly throughout the world. He was very brave to do that knowing that he was going to start something. Also he pretty much started from nothing and he wanted to make a difference so he did that. Two of the sources used were “Excerpts from the Letter from Paul Revere to Jeremy Belknap, circa 1798” and The Tipping Point book. Paul Revere connects to the book The Tipping Point because he showed traits of a connector and salesmen in his midnight ride and how he spreads the word that the British are coming throughout his village.
Peter the Great Peter the Great was an iconic individual in Russian history and even in world history. He made many strides for Russia to become more of a westernized nation. World Civilization II: The Rise and Fall of Empires© 1500- present stated, "From his father, Peter learned of Russia’s need for modernization, so in the early 18th century, Peter embarked on an extended journey throughout Europe where he learned how to build ships, observed modern military techniques, and recruited Western craftsmen and artists to come back to Russia with him" (Sattler, 60). He was very determined to make Russia modernized to say the least. In his reign, he held many reforms to push Russia to become more westernized (Sattler, 60-61).
Also, during this time period, Frederick William I transformed Prussia into a military state. To become an absolute ruler, Peter the Great made many reforms throughout Russia. However, all these absolute leaders had the same goal. Even though they reigned over different countries, they all strengthened their armies, raised taxes, and unified religion. One thing that all absolute rulers did was increase the strength of their army.
Within Ray Bradbury’s short story, “The Veldt”, the difficult character, Peter Hadley is disrespectful, intelligent and ruthless. Peter is disrespectful because he shows no courtesy or manners towards his parents and anything they say. Peter exhibits his disrespect during his argument with his father. Peter would always, “look at his shoes. He never looked at his father anymore”(Bradbury 6).

Both having a sporty background of being physical, they were involved in several wars and recognized similarly. Peter the Great was recognized by reorganizing his army and created the first Russian Navy. Louis XIV was revengeful, he attacked people who were disobedient such as nobles in exile while Peter the Great wanted to centralize power and strengthen his military such as expanded Russian borders. Peter also demanded money from mercantilist policy because of his new military. But like Peter, Louis XIV who had a semi feudal society, he wanted a mercantile nation to create an efficient army.
