The Phantom Tollbooth Imagine being fast asleep in the middle of the night, and being awakened by a tollbooth that magically appeared in your room! Inside is a magical land where two queens Rhyme and Reason have been captured. War has broken out between two leaders Azaz, the king of letters, and the Mathemagician known as the king of numbers. Milo, who is a young boy that faces constant boredom and depression is placed into this magical world one night by a tollbooth. He ends up having the most adventurous day of his life. He faces challenges to save the queens, but eventually brings peace back to the land. The Phantom Tollbooth was a play that was put on excellently by amateur actors. It gave them the option to spend more money on the play’s Effects. Effects are by far one of the most important parts of a play. They catch the attention of the audience, and make it a memorable experience. Effects include lighting, sound effects, and extra effects. The phantom tollbooth did a great job on their lighting. Whenever a scene changed, they used the lighting to change the setting into a theme that fit the play. Another great thing that they did was adding additional sound effects when needed. For example they had sound effects such as knocking on doors, and sounds from the tollbooth. On the down side, I think that they lacked the amount of extra effects needed. They did do a great job on adding in the disco ball to wrap up the play, but I do think they could have added more. However, overall the Phantom Tollbooth was a fantastic play. They provided great sets, costumes, and effects. While considering how hard it is to put on a school play I think that they did a great job! It was definitely not a play full of professional actors, and singers, but for a school play it was fantastic! I highly recommend this play to anyone looking for a fun, and amusing
