From the movie of Laramie project, I realized the theme of Harry Woods interview was a lot more powerful when performed than reading it in the play. The interview mentioned the homecoming parade that touched Harry Woods heart, people were walking for Matthew, breaking the prejudice in Laramie. It was memorable because I did not have an idea of a scene of the parade, it’s not clear when I read that in the play. Homecoming has always been a tradition thing that goes on in America, but not so much in Canada, therefore it is quite unclear for me of what it should look like in real life. For example, what I found very different from the play was that when the interviewer asked:”What would you say to Mckinney if you see him again?” and the reaction of people was obvious, they were angry and saying that “I would definitely shake him, and ask him why would you do that!”. Through the layering of different scenes, it created more of a tense mood and strong emotions because we can see the reactions being put together instead of one after one. The directing of the movie was impressive, especially the scene where Aaron Kreifels talked to Amanda about how he found out that Matthew’s body was against the fence. The close up of Aaron’s face made the focus all on his eyes, and it really shows how scared and worried he was while talking about it. Also no music was used during that scene which made me focused on what he was talking about, and really helped set up the image in my mind, it is very clever I think to have this kind of technique that helps the audience to concentrate on the details of the story instead of trying to layer it up with
