The community pharmacist that I interview for this assignment is Eric Amber. Mr. Amber graduated from Duquesne Pharmacy School, and soon after his graduation became the owner of a Medicine Stop Pharmacy. Mr. Amber was the owner of his pharmacy for 32 years, and has massive amounts of managerial experience. He stated that most of his background knowledge and basic managerial skills came from his internships while still in pharmacy school.
Long term care pharmacists are involved with nursing facilities, often times working with the elderly or the disabled. The benefits include a flexible schedule and the more clinical setting. Negatives include long work weeks and the large amount of time dedicated to paperwork. About a quarter of the pharmacist’s time is dedicated to medication management, another quarter in dispensing, and the rest in data management or patient management.
I started wanting to be pharmacist since it was very good profession in itself with a good salary. One other reason being my parents who were both working in the pharmacy gave me convincing talks about that job. So I decided to give it a try that is how I got into the internship program from my high school for shadowing a pharmacist in a Walgreens. There I learned how to be a pharmacy technician. From that experience I received my first pharmacy technician job at Rxperts Pharmacy.
Personal Statement Many pairs of eyes stared at me, while I gave my first speech at the Sikh Temple of Riverside, on the Massacre of 1984 event that took place in Punjab, India. A few significant activities and projects I worked on were putting together chemotherapy binders, deliver them to the appropriate destination, restock office supplies and help patients find appropriate information. The chemotherapy binder normally takes 10-15 minutes to make however, I found efficient shortcuts to make a couple binders in 10 minutes. The cancer center was in constant need for chemotherapy binders so it was essentially that I make as much as I could with the time I spent there. In my time working at the front desk, lots of patients knew which doctor but did not know where to go, so it was my job to direct them in the correct direction.
