Pharmacy Intervention Cost Savings Pharmacists are valuable members of the healthcare setting and are integral members of clinical practice. Their expertise and interventions during the medication-use process help minimize the risk of adverse reactions, improve health outcomes associated with drug therapy, and significantly lower hospital costs. Adverse drug events experienced by hospital patients have been shown to increase morbidity and mortality, prolong the length of hospital stay, and increase hospital costs1. One way to track the positive impact that pharmacists have on patient care and hospital costs is by documenting pharmacist interventions.
