Studying philosophy can provide you multiple benefits such as, the skill of critical thinking , knowing how to be happy, have a meaningful life and how to know the truth. 2. Explain the Socratic Method of Teaching. Is this a useful way for students to learn? The Socratic method is a very reliable method of teaching, as it is very old, it can still be used today. The premises provide reasons in support of the conclusion or position taken by the argument. Descartes premises and his conclusion are an example of critical thinking being used . 4. Compare and contrast induction, abduction, and deduction. Deduction uses the valid structure of a conclusion support by premises. If the premises are true in its structure, then the conclusion in fact has to be 100% true. Induction uses premises that provide strong evidence but does not make the conclusion 100% true.
