My educational philosophy is a combination of existentialism and progressivism. And the purpose of my teaching philosophy is trying to build an idea classroom situation, as good as possible. After comparing some of example of teaching philosophy, I tend to choose which could fit envision of my classroom situation and provide significant benefit for my students. Personally I admire progressivism most. This form of teaching will not only improve the academic achievement of students, but also make us, a teacher, to be a lifelong learner. As a teacher-to-be, I still need to learn in College as a student. Many of ideas or imagination of what kinds of teacher I should be are immature. Moreover, it is important to realize that we are living in an open-minded society, in which our students are individuals and unique. In this conversation about creating an ideal school or classroom, a vigorous debate could be last for some time, the problem we will meet might be hard to solve. For example, the classroom we create is ideal for one child might not be the best for another child. For a school or classroom to work as a learning place for a child it has to be a good match with their needs, as well as the their personality.
On the other hand, I still believe that it is possible to build an ideal classroom situation. We can find a number of examples in public and private schools throughout the country, in which schools work on and on to shape their school culture to meet the needs of students and teachers. We are quick to expect children to adapt to their schools, but not expect schools to adapt to their students. So while there are ideal schools, I believe they come in different shapes and sizes.
