To keep his name clean Villefort sends Dantes to prison where he is imprisoned for fourteen years before he escapes. In prison he becomes friends with a priest, Abbe Faria, who tells him of a hidden treasure that Dantes can get once he escapes. Later on it is found out that Abbe Faria has a disease that h is likely to die from and eventually he does die after a massive seizure. When he dies Dantes takes on the act of a dead body and escapes that way. After escaping he finds the treasure and starts his new life of power and vengeance.
Phineas acts similar to an adolescent because of a tamping iron piercing through his skull hitting a part of his brain. But is Phineas really that similar to an adolescent or is there anything different? In the text, it says how Phineas has the body of a grown man and their passion but the brain of a small child or adolescent, they also include how his brain is permanently stuck in the way forever. Phineas is yet different from the adolescent as well because he went through their process but was put back into the way they think and the act of some sort. Phineas is yet similar mentally to an adolescent but even mentally he has a difference including his physical brain structure.
A human 's identity is all a person has to segregate him from the rest of the world. In John Knowles novel A Separate Peace, Gene and Phineas ' are two best friends at boarding school during world war WWII. Gene 's obsession toward Phineas strikes when he has commixed feelings of jealousy and veneration for his roommate and best friend . Gene 's obsession with his best friend Phineas reaches an extreme in their relationship when Gene is so infatuated by Phineas that it begins to cause disorder among them. The obsession that Gene has on phineas causes unhealthy thoughts that lead to an unbalanced friend”.at he can feel like Phineas and not cogitate all the negativity that is circumventing him.
Phineas Gage’s brain behavior only converted to be comparable an adolescent’s after his accident when using a tamping iron on September 13, 1848 in Vermont. The tamping iron that went through him was a meter long!! Phineas Gage’s brain and behavior was extremely close to the adolescent’s brain and behavior. Although there are many resemblances, there are also some differences between Phineas and adolescents. Phineas also relates to adolescents because of his brain after the accident.

"The Inferno" is the first book in the epic poem called the “Divine Comedy” by the Italian politician Dante Alighieri and it is followed by "Purgatorio" and "Paradiso”. The book "Inferno", which is the Italian translation for Hell, tells the journey of its author through what he believes is Hell, which consists of nine circles of pain and suffering. In his journey, he is guided through the nine circles by the Roman poet Virgil. Each circle in the book represents a different type of sin with a different type of punishment, varying according to the degree of the offense they committed in their life. By the end of his journey through all of the circles, Dante realizes and emphasizes the perfection of God's Justice and the significance of each offense towards God’s unconditional love.
Common sense seems to dictate that if someone sins, so wickedly that they end in Hell, they must be a terrible person, capable of extremely heinous things. So, why does Dante when descending through the levels of Hell during Inferno give the sinners he meets his sympathy? I believe that Dante the Poet sees sympathy as a way to connect to his audience, while connecting with his audience, he entices the reader to view Dante the Pilgrim as a more decent human being, sympathy being a requirement. “Ah, the wounds I saw covering their [the sinners] limbs, […] Even now, when I think back to them, I grieve” (214). A Separate Peace is a novel, written by John Knowles, about a very quiet and cautious boy named Gene and his persuasive and daring friend, Phineas. It takes place at the Devon School during World War II. The story is told by Gene in a flashback, after he returns to the school 15 years later. Phineas is very easy going. He is unpredictable and lives in the moment.
Dante’s portrayal of Satan shows him to be monstrous and empty as he does not fulfill any satisfaction that is felt if something is missing in one’s life. The thing that is missing in the readers’ lives is God as only God can satisfy our desire. This paradox of Satan by Dante speaks truth as to the fact he is both monstrous and empty. This is an astounding idea to think but it makes sense as he is seen with three heads gnawing on the sinners in the final realm of Hell, Judecca, but is also empty as he is the epitome of sin and, as said earlier, sin is empty and never truly
In Inferno, Dante is the main character who is fighting between good and evil, which translates to be the theme of the story. Dante explores deeply the Christian hell and heaven, which includes the immediate Purgatory. This experience makes him cast his allegiance to good and God. The differences between these two stories are depicted when comparing the epic conventions, epic characteristics, and when comparing the various religious backgrounds of the times in which these two stories were written.

Jesus has descended into Hell and granted salvation to the souls in Limbo with hope. With the absence of these saved souls, every soul left in Hell has no hope of salvation. The sigh that states “Abandon all hope ye who enter here” acts as a warning for only the souls damned to stay in Hell for all of eternity (I, III, 31). No matter what ring of Hell a soul is punished within, the loss of hope is part of their punishment. Dante is one of the few that enter Hell that retains hope.
Purgatory fills Dante with relief and hope. As Dante travels through Purgatory, his mind becomes pure through Virgil’s teachings. In Canto III, Virgil teaches Dante “to be satisfied with the quia of cause unknown.” Dante learns to have trust and faith in God and not question His power. Dante confront sinners in a completely different way than in Hell.
