The article “Phone therapy helps with depression, study says” by Leslie Wade talks about how people who get therapy over the phone drop out less than people who talk to their therapist in person and get better at the same rate. This article mentions how therapy through technology can be a useful strategy. 325 people with major depression where tested. The article later then mentions how 6 months after therapy the people who got therapy over the phone benefited less than the people who talked in person with their therapist. The person who did the study gives a reason for this and he says that it could be because people who talked on the phone where easier to retain and they were people that would have dropped out if they meet in person and these people may have a lot more difficulties in their lives. 21 to 30 million Americans each year are affected by depression and depression is common.
