The Pew Research Center says “The vast majority of Americans – 95% – now own a cellphone of some kind. The share of Americans that own smartphones are now 77%”. Based on recent studies phones, a device used for making calls, social media and games, and technology are having increasing risks on people's bodies. But on the other handphones are giving scientist and doctors new data about mental health. Technology is dangerous because it affects work, physical and mental health. It has been claimed that technology helps some people with mental health. Tulane University, Science Daily, said “Cellphone support can help people lose significantly more weight, according to a recent study. Using one of the many mobile apps with daily text messages or videos incites the user to think about dieting and eating well”. However, phones are also giving people Physical risks. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.”More than one-third (36.5%) of U.S. adults have obesity.” This quote demonstrates that the obesity rate is going up rapidly. Most are caused by technology. Kids are sitting on the couch all day eating and staring at a screen for hours. They're not getting any exercise and gaining weight everyday. The National Institutes of Health state “Cell phones emit radiofrequency energy (radio waves), a form of non-ionizing radiation, from their antennas. Tissues nearest to the antenna can absorb this energy”. This fact proves that phones have an antenna built into them that gives off radio waves. While people are on their phones or fall asleep with the phones next to them have a higher risk of absorbing these waves. These waves are causing more cases of cancer around the world.
