I am excited about the opportunity to attend the Regis University Physical Therapy Program. I am especially interested in the clinical emphasis at Regis and the international clinical experiences. Additionally, I appreciate the emphasis on hands-on clinical education, manual therapy, and using research findings to improve the care of patients. I would enjoy attending PT school in Denver, but I also welcome the opportunity to gain clinical experience in both a rural setting, as well as at another site outside of Colorado. Growing up in Alaska exposed me to people from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. For example, I spent a week in a rural Alaska Native village of less than 300 people where I went to school, played with Alaska Native children, and ate in their homes. The people and their language, food, and music were new to me, and opened my eyes to a culture and social class that was completely different from my own. Living in Manhattan, I observed many different cultures while navigating the subway system, walking through China Town, and attending concerts at Lincoln Center. I also learned to play the violin at the first Suzuki school in the U.S. (School for Strings). After preschool in the mornings, I explored the city with my family to visit many famous sights and museums. In 6th grade my family spent a year living in Cambridge, England, where I experienced new accents and sports like netball and cricket, the thrill of attending Premiership football (soccer) games, and where I learned the art of ringing church tower bells.
