Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Counseling
Numerous people suffer from either long-term injuries or acute injuries, leaving the person in a situation where that person suffers both physically and mentally. Physical therapy combined with psychology, has always been my desired career path due to the fact that I would like to combine the physical and mental aspects to help people overcome an injury, which creates disturbance in the everyday life. Physical therapy combined with being a rehabilitation counselor is a desired career path due to the fact that I can combine the physical and psychological aspects.
The Combination of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Counseling Physical therapy is a career path, which focuses on improving movement and rehabilitating patients who either has a long-term injury or an acute injury (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2014a). With rehabilitation counseling on the other hand, I will be focusing more on the mental aspects a physical condition can lead to (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2014b).
Working with physical therapy combined with rehabilitation counseling would be a good combination working in the intensive care unit (ICU). Working in the ICU would hopefully help patients recover faster due to the fact that research shows that the earlier the rehabilitation, the quicker the recovery.
