Powerboat racing is very popular in America, Europe, Middle East and Asia. The UIM ( Union Internationale Motonautique) leads the racing in Europe, Middle East and Asia. In America, the racing is lead by APBA/UIM. The racing is mostly financed by commercial sponsors and private funding. Even when this sport is fun, it also involves physics in many ways. There is a game called HydroThunder Hurricane on XBOX 360, it is a game where the players choose a boat and a track and they have to race until they get to the finish line. This game is a perfect representation of what boat racing is. It allows you to accelerate, have boost, race, and use high speeds in order to get first place. This game helps the person understand physics because it deals with acceleration, speed, energy and Newtons Laws. Playing this game not only helps, but it also is an easy way of understanding other various components of boat racing. …show more content…
In powerboat racing, this means that when they begin racing the engines are off which is why they are in the same place. Once the engines are powered and they being racing, the engine serves as the force acting upon the boat, making it not be at rest for no longer. Another part of Newton's First Law is that an object in motion stays in motion unless an unbalanced force is acted upon it, which means that the boat will continue in the same speed and acceleration until the breaks are put into use and stops the boat's movement. Once the boat stops, that represents the object being in motion until the break ( unbalanced force) acts upon
