I believe Piggy is the most important member of their society. He is a symbol of the “outcasts” that actually run the show. Piggy was on the ball right after they got off the plane, he was the one who got the conch, he was the one who thought about calling everyone, and in the end he was the one whose idea got everyone saved. Piggy really is smart. If I was lost on an island I sure wouldn't think about making a government. Piggy is caring as well. He took time to remember all their names, and try to give them jobs that suited them. He's super goal oriented as well. Piggy's goal was first and foremost get off the island, so he got the smokey fire going, which eventually saved them. He was the one that wanted the government to get the ball rolling.
