In the novel, “The Lord of the Flies”, there are a number of different objects that have symbolism. For example, Piggy’s glasses symbolizes intelligence as Piggy is the smartest boy in the group. As well, they represent science and discovery as the boys use them to start the fires. One of the primary symbols in the book is the conch shell that was found by Ralph in the beginning of the novel. Responsibility Over Living Sigmund Freud once said, “Most people do not really want freedom because freedom involves responsibility and most people are frightened of responsibility.” This quote in my opinion means that even though most people say they want freedom to do whatever they want, they really don’t because they’re too scared to accept responsibility for their actions. The character John hurt a lot of people in this novel because he is too afraid to be responsible. He would rather have a party than take care of a sick man’s house. He is not a good role model.
I found that as placement went on and I become a reflective practitioner, I could relate more to Larrivee (2009) advice on self-reflection, this allowed me to understand myself more as a learner, and enhance my ability to teach effectively and efficiently. When teaching the students how to write a factual recount on ‘The Three Little Pigs’, the IWB crashed and I was unable to get the book up. Through advancing and being able to self-reflect, I learnt the skill of slowing down my thinking process in order to become more aware of my surrounding and, to think of an alternative solution without panicking (Larrivee, 2009). Due to being able to think with a clear state of mind, I quickly thought of the idea to go and getting the book from the library.

The Pigman The Pigman, written by Paul Zindel, is a very interesting and distinct read. The two main characters, John and Lorraine, attend the same high school and become great friends. Drinking and smoking are the weekly avocations of John, whereas Lorraine’s mother causes Lorraine to be mortified, shy, and self conscious because she is always pointing out her flaws. Also, John prevaricates to his parents often, among other things. John and his parents do not have a good relationship, and his relationship with his father is antagonistic.
The show went smoothly and our joint effort in pig related entertainment was a success, and even received a standing ovation from the rodeo audience. The conduct of one of your employees after the show wasn’t so enjoyable.
