Pilates Mat/Core Strength
Pilates is one of many different types of exercise, developed by Joseph Pilates, that emphasizes the balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility, and graceful movement. When doing core strength, it is the main foundation of Pilates Exercise. It is when the core muscles are the internal muscles of the abdomen and back. Once the core muscles are strong and doing their job, as they are trained to do in Pilates, they work in tandem with the more superficial muscles of the trunk to be able to support the spine and movement. As well as, “The mind, when housed within a healthful body, possesses a glorious sense of power”, as both quotes are mentioned in the article of Mindful Movement Center. These philosophies believed by Joseph Pilates was that in his mindset he believed that the mind and body were two aspects of health that are complementing and that each depends upon the other’s well-being. Which these philosophies of the body and mind fitness led Joseph to then begin and create his program of specific and controlled exercises that strengthened the mind and body, while the mind being used to control the muscles. They are important because Pilates is a form of exercise that allows to do exercises on the floor with types of exercise that involve balance, flexibility, strength, power, agility and mental focus in order to do Pilates correctly. As well as, by doing Pilates it helps to increase metabolism, enhanced respiratory and circulatory functions. As well as, improving bone density, flexibility, muscle tone, calming the body nerves.
