Rush is a rock group made up of three members who reached the height of their careers in the early 1970’s when rock and roll was a nation wide trend. The group formed in 1968 in Toronto, Canada by Alex Lifeson and his two classmates, John Rusty and Jeff Jones. Unfortunately, Geddy Lee replaced Jeff Jones in lead vocals and Neil Peart replaced John Rusty as the lead drummer in the same year of their formation. The music styles Rush produces in their albums varies from progressive rock, modern rock, and synthesizer rock. Neil Peart was the lyricist for Rush and based his lyrics on true events and science fiction.
The Beastie Boys. Need I say more? When most think of the rambunctious rap group from that came straight out of the 1980’s, they think about girls, partying, crude humor and maybe some music in between. Although The Beastie Boys as a group did a few things that had never been done before in music history. Thats pretty incredible considering nobody expected something so revolutionary to come from three middle class white jewish kids from New York.

Charles Floyd was known as Pretty Boy Floyd,"Robin Hood of the Cookson Hills","Phantom of the Ozarks",and Choc Floyd. He was famous for robbing banks, killing someone, and taking part in the Kansas City Massacre (“Charles).
“Pretty Boy” Floyd, who was he and what were his crimes. Pretty Boy was one of the famous gangsters in the great depression. He committed various crimes. Charles Arthur Floyd was born on February 3rd, 1904. He was born in Adairsville, Georgia to poor farmers during The Great Depression where nobody had money.
It all started at McKinley High School. Kendall Aaron, Carlton Phillips, and Corey Thomas they all was in the band for all 4 years. They enjoyed band and it was their main focus after their grades. McKinley High band was so important to them, they took it serious as it was reflecting their grades. They were so excellent in the band that they were offered 3 scholarships from 3 different schools.
In 1969, during the Woodstock music festival, Jimmi Hendrix played an alternative version of the National Anthem. Some may think this does not represent American values because it was at Woodstock which was a big protest of the Vietnam war. However I think Jimmi Hendrix and everyone else there were perfectly within their rights and regardless of what the message of Woodstock was. He still played the national anthem which is a sign of respect for our country. For much of Jimmi’s early childhood, he was raised by his mother because his dad was fighting in World War II.
The Welsh singer who sold over 100 million records - Sir Thomas John Woodward, better known by his stage name as Tom Jones, wants to do something that has been quite commonly occurring. The 75 years old singer wants to get a DNA test to discover if he has any black ancestry. Tom Jones stated that he's always curious to know about if he is of mixed race, part of it - Tom Jones's curly hair and tan skin. The 'Sex Bomb' hitmaker stated, "A lot of people still have a particular opinion that I'm black," "When I first came to the United States, individuals who had heard me sing on the radio would be impressed greatly that I was white when they saw me. For the reason of my hair, a lot of black people still tell me that I'm just passing as white."
Two of the biggest groups to separate themselves from the other bands of the 1960s were the Beach Boys and the Beatles. Each had their own style of rock ’n’ roll and their own way of creating new music. The Beatles had a very British pop style at the start, which morphed into their unique style of music as they blended and mixed it with different kinds of “world music.” The band worked together to write and develop their style, which was different from the Beach Boys “whose creative center was unquestionably one member of the group” (Starr & Waterman, 305) Brian Wilson. Through Wilson, the Beach Boys developed a surfin’ style of rock ’n’ roll and like the Beatles, Wilson liked to experiment with different instruments and effects to change their sound.
Neil Young is among the genuses of rock music. The members of the Monkees were very influential in the development of television and music during the 1960’s.

Also, in the 1960’s many of the most popular bands originated in London and came to America, like The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and more.

This is also known as Jazz-fusion as a musical genre, which was developed, in the late 19’60s and the early 19’70s. This was when artists merged different characteristics of Jazz harmony, and improvisation with styles such as: rock, funk, blues and Latin Jazz.
Pink Floyd’s 1979 “Another Brick in the Wall” voices the lacks of freedom, creativity, and individuality in students within the school system. Along with the absence of students’ individuality, Roger Waters, the writer of this infamous song, argues not only are education systems poor, they display an overbearing authoritarian role in addition. During the music video, various imagery, sounds, and metaphors are shown to express the argument of Roger Waters, education is worthless. Displaying the lack of uniqueness and independence within students as well as the poor school system, involving a dictatorial role, are the main focuses on Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall”.
Rock music in the 1960s was egalitarian, eclectic, and real based on a number of reasons. To explain the 'real' piece of rock music in the 1960s, one would have to know that there was war going on overseas that didn't make sense to Americans as to why it was going on (the Vietnam war). There was also still severe inequality between blacks and whites causing protests to occur via the Civil Rights movement, led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. There was inequality between women and mens rights. These issues caused dissatisfaction to occur in the American people.
