What is Pinterest? Pinterest is a social media site dedicated to images. The site consists of pinboard-style social photo-sharing accounts where users can plan, organize, and explore any topic of interest (Hansen et al, 2012). Users can post not only images but videos as well. Users can also have multiple pinboards for specific topics, making it easier for followers to access many different images and videos for that topic (Hansen et al, 2012). The issue with many training programs is that they focus on one kind of learner (visual, audio, kinesthetic). With the addition of Pinterest, trainers can add visual supplemental information to an audio presentation. Pinning videos and infographics to further explain the material can bring a stronger cohesion (Hansen et al, 2012). Each board carries a specific theme, either a new technology or process. As a user, trainers create multiple boards on their profile while learners can follow the trainer and their boards (Hansen et al, 2012).
