Characters: The main character of this story is of course is Brain. He is dynamic because Brain demonstrates perseverance by surviving alone. In order to get there the pilot, Jim or Jake, had to try to fly him to his father's work place. The cause of the flight is from Brain's parents divorce. Since he had to go with the pilot to visit his father his mother is a dynamic character.

The brain controls our voluntary movements, regulates involuntary activities, stores our memories, allows us to feel emotion and gives each individual a unique personality. Dysfunction in the brain either caused by deformity in development or through a serious head injury can alter a person's behavior.

The growth mindset helps many people change their pessimistic behavior by working and growing on their flaws. Many people thought that the brain does not change after childhood. For a few years, scientists studied a way to adjust the brain by a method called Neuroplasticity. It is a process that helps to develop a growth mindset. In Neuroplasticity, “the brain rewires itself by forming new connections and weakening old ones.”
According to The First Years Last Forever 90% of brain growth occurs in the first three years of life (PublicReasorceOrg, 2011). This statistic supports the theory that all experiences and outside stimuli an infant is exposed to greatly impacts the infant’s future brain growth and development. I believe that the infant’s experiences and outside stimuli must be appropriate and meaningful in order to insure that their future brain growth and development is typical and sufficient. An example that supports my belief is the acquirement of delayed speech in a child. According to the University of Michigan, delayed speech in a child can be caused by extreme environmental deprivation.
Children are the one who will shape our country's future, but how can they make a good future if they are not taken care of correctly? The influence of a parent on their child is extremely important, and a child’s development can move quickly, especially when they are young. Sometimes children are born into a bad home, and this can lead to setbacks and delays in a child’s growth. In addition, the government can sometimes get involved and remove children from these bad situations, but a lot of people don’t think that it is right. Some people think that the government is just making the child’s life worse, but this isn’t the case.
How does the environment affect a child’s brain growth and development? There are five areas of child development. These areas are cognitive which is thinking and learning, social/emotional, speech/language, fine motor skills, and gross motor skills. The environment influences a child’s development.
In the contemporary times, great importance is given to the significance of early years of a child’s life. It is widely acknowledged now-a-days that the early childhood years are a predominantly receptive phase in the developmental process. This stage is responsible to lay a foundation in early days and later years for cognitive functioning, learning process, physical wellbeing, and self-regulatory capacities in both personal and social lives. In simple words, “the period from birth to age 5 is one of opportunity and vulnerability for healthy physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development” (Karoly, Kilburn & Cannon, 2005). However, it is also a fact that many children go through several stressors during their developmental years due to which their healthy development may be impaired.

Neuroplasticity is the ability of the brain to form and reorganize synaptic connections, which means that you, yourself, can rewire your brains way of thinking about things.
I believe that if I understand what the brain is doing, I can see how I've been in the past, how I am now, and how I will be doing in the future. In Chapter 2, I noticed the plasticity of the brain. As the word plasticity itself is unfamiliar, I needed to know where this term originated. Physically, plasticity is a property that can not be restored to its original state when an object is deformed by a given force from the outside. However, in psychology and brain science, it is used as a term to describe changes in brain function and structure caused by external stimuli and environmental changes.
