A Valentine Edgar Allan Poe was a critic and editor and his work, best known for evocative short stories and poems, captured interest of readers around the world. Poetry Foundation states “Today, Poe is recognized as one of the foremost progenitors of modern literature” (Poetry Foundation). Poe was born on January 19, 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts. Poe’s parents were both professional actors in Boston. At the age of three years old, his mother died of tuberculosis and his father left earlier during his life.
