The point of community corrections is to have offenders who are outside of jail, prison, whatever it may be, supervised by authorities from law enforcement to help guide them through the process or reintegrating them back into society. The point of this is geared towards the three main goals. This first one is to make sure that the offenders, whether they are on probation or parole, contribute back to their family responsibilities and the responsibilities aimed towards themselves. Such responsibilities include child support (if they have any children), paying income taxes (because nobody is exempt from paying that), and finding employment. To be considered an outpatient, you will not be admitted into a hospital or clinic for an extended amount of time. As an outpatient, you can still receive emergency services like x-rays, lab tests, etcetera, but the patient will not be admitted into the clinic for an extended period of time. For example, Bruno broke his arm and had to get minor surgery on his elbow. Bruno stayed in the hospital overnight and then left the next day. This program is almost like being in the other person’s shoes. It is a very homey atmosphere. The point of this is to be able to gain insight and a good perspective of the other person’s atmosphere and background to help understand their situation. This offers treatment for regressing addicts, group therapy, individual therapy, and the typical treatment provided to the individual every 24 hours. The second on is group residential communities. This type of community makes the setting very easy for the attending individual thanks to its family-like environment. In this environment they work on repairing a person’s self-esteem, they help them develop relationships/ friendships, they help them build skills and help to manage the symptoms that come with their mental health.
