In a world with tablets, smart phones, laptops, Xbox’s, Playstation’s, Wii U’s, and Nintendo 3DS’s the gaming/internet world has become as diverse as the world of television. The content available in video games range from shooter games, action games, adventure games, music games, and action-adventure games just to name a few. The content of games on the Internet add more to what is available for children. Now with the rise of Applications, the accessibility of these games has becomes easy for mostly anyone to get to. Video games available for children differ from the different age ranges, but for the purpose of this paper the main focus will children between the ages of 6-12 years old. The Pokémon franchise has taken advantage of this by creating a whole new world of experiences with it’s website. Pokémon originally began as video game for the original Game Boy, which centered is around fictional monsters known as Pokémon that are trained and captured by humans. After the success of its video games it extended to trading card games, animated TV series, toys, comics, films, and now a popular interactive website. Pokemon.com basically a online form of all the franchises merchandise. The site included the latest episodes of the latest Pokémon season; it also has a online trading card game aspect, and also contains information on the fictional Pokémon world. In the site there are many games including popular Pokémon like the very famous Pikachu. These online games are children friendly and they feature there own take on popular puzzle’s like finding pairs (Memory) and popular app games like bejeweled (using Pokémon instead). There is not much educational value on the site, but rather is more of continuation of what the games and show provides. The Site is also another platform to sell their products. On the site, there is a shop were one can fine the latest Pokémon merchandise available and even pre-order upcoming games. The site itself, advertises it own merchandise on the home page like the latest video game, Pokémon: Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. The content on the site is age appropriate for its intended audience, due to the fact that much of the content is very friendly from the episodes available online to the many puzzle games
