Poker Players Alliance The Poker Players Alliance, or PPA for short, is a non-profit interest group which was founded in 2005 with the goal of protecting poker players’ rights and liberties, as well as promoting the game of poker. The mission of the PPA is to provide a unified voice for poker players and to work with lawmakers and regulators to create a fair and safe playing environment for the millions of Americans who enjoy playing the game. Following, the mission statement of the Poker Players Alliance is, “to serve as the collective voice of the poker playing community in the United States, protecting the right of individuals to play poker for enjoyment and promoting the safe and secure regulation of online poker” (Et al. The organization believes that poker is a game of skill and should be treated as such by the government and the public. The PPA also believes in the right of individuals to play poker as a form of entertainment, and that the government should not interfere with this activity as long as it is conducted fairly and responsibly. The goals of the PPA include legalizing and regulating online poker in the United States, protecting the rights of poker players, promoting the social and economic benefit of the same, and ensuring that the game remains free from corruption and fraud. One of the key issues that the PPA has taken a position on is the legalization and regulation of online poker. The organization supports the legalization of online poker and believes that is should be regulated in a manner similar to land-based casino gaming. The PPA believes that online poker regulation will provide consumers with protection, ensure integrity of the games, and generate revenue for the
