We all have our jobs and things to do to keep society together. The problem is that people always get a different point of view, but in which they misinterpret it. People that feel like they are doing the right thing can be doing the wrong thing. Sometimes instincts control the person into assuming and taking action. For instants, a caucasian cop and an african american boy in a drug store. The title of the book I have read was “All American Boys.” The authors of this book are Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely. Their idea of the book is based on police brutality and how it is taken into situations where the person is innocent. In the book, ”All American Boys,” points out the fact of police brutality when an african american teen is arrested for stealing even though he didn't commit anything wrong and was wrongly accused by a caucasian cop. The arrest scene in the drug store and Rashad trying to prove he is innocent but being ignored in the end and then beaten by the cop.(Reynolds 22) The author proved that this was a sign of injustice and beaten the teen that stood no chance against the cop. This relates a lot to the thesis of police brutality because it represents the events can happen to anyone and that it is brutal. “The other way I was feeling was just… confused. I mean, I hadn’t done anything. Nothing at all. So why was I hooked up to all the machines,lying in this uncomfortable bed? Why was my mother waiting there for me to wake up, dried tears crusted on her face, prayer on her breath?”(Reynolds 45) This evidence from the text claims that life is a whirl of chances that possibly happen for no reason. This connects with the theme because these possibilities are very unfortunate thus meaning things are rough in the world. Police brutality happens out of nowhere and that it's an unfair treatment. Even in the police department located at Baltimore, Maryland have a profiling system against African American citizens. “The report detailed longstanding patterns of racial profiling of African-Americans and excessive force within the city's police force.” (NewsELA) This article represents the relevancy of racism within the police department or even in others that would profile a certain race. Everyone has been wrongly accused because of the color and what others have to assume of another. “It was created after the April 2015 death of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old black man. Gray was arrested for possession of what police claimed was an illegal switchblade. Eyewitnesses said that police used excessive force during the arrest. Then, Gray was not secured in the back of the moving police transport wagon. His neck was broken. Gray died within days from injuries to his spinal cord.” (NewsELA) Racism is a terrible thing and leads to harsh treatment to others of different ethnicity.
