The police can also take evidence if you have been in suspicion of committing a crime that could lead to a potential prison sentence. The police can take evidence such as; photographs, fingerprints and a DNA and that is used as evidence to match the mystery suspect involved in the crime. When taking DNA they can take from your mouth, head, and the skin of your hands and arms. The police do not need your permission to do this but if they need to take your blood, urine samples or dental impressions then they need to talk with a senior police officer to get permission to do this. All evidence that is collected will be stored on a police database so that if you ever commit a crime again they will know who you are straight away and they will not
