Have you ever heard of a blizzard? This is a severe weather event and is a long-lasting snowstorm with strong winds and intense snowfall. This fierce weather storm can freeze flesh in seconds. Yeah, we can say this isn’t just a few snowflakes.
Three things are needed to form a blizzard;cold air at the surface, lots of moisture, and lift. Warm air also needs to rise over cold air. It usually needs to rain to end a blizzard so the rain can melt the snow. These weather conditions usually happen in the north central and northeastern in the world. They happen when warm air rises over cold air. These blizzards rarely happen in the south so they would hardly happen in Mississippi. Blizzards last 3 hours or more for a prolonged time. To prepare for a blizzard at home or work you need a working flashlight, a battery powered radio or television, extra food, water, medicine, first aid supplies, a charged cell phone, heating fuel, emergency heating source, fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide, and smoke detectors. You can predict a blizzard by visibility, the temperature, heavy snow, and strong winds. There will also be public broadcast by radio and television to warn people. You can evacuate, but be prepared. They do have shelters, but are mostly for those who are homeless.
