Evidence from Doc D, shows that over 100 million acres were harvested crops. How this was possible was advances in machinery. The tractor at the time was a new type of technology used to help farmers plant soil for crops. Since the soil was not watered because of the drought in the previous paragraph, this caused the soil to turn into dust.

By this point, production had already declined and unemployment was at an all-time high, leaving stocks to imitate their real value. The Dust Bowl was a terrible experience during a horrible time. In the 1930s post World War I America had a total collapse of the stock market causing the Great Depression affecting the economy on a global scale, but hitting hardest at home in the United States. However, the economy wasn’t the only thing that was hit hard during this time; seemingly unstoppable dust storms ravaged farming land from the west to east coast hitting hardest in the great plains in the middle section the the US became known as the Dust Bowl. The Dust Bowl was not entirely a causation of bad luck on nature, it was caused by an increasing demand for crops, advancements in farming technology, while the final nail in the coffin was a lack of rain. Have you ever imagined a world covered in a huge cloud of dust and soot - so much that you can’t even see your own hands? This is how the daily life in the Dust Bowl era felt when a giant cloud of dirt and dust rolled over an area of an affected plain state. For thousands of years, the Southern Plains were covered by shortgrass prairie. People looked to settle in the plain states in seek of better and less expensive land for farming. They ripped up a large portion of the land’s native crops and plants during the construction of housing and preparation of farmland.
Years ago in the 1930s, tragedy struck in America. Along with the wounding great depression, those in the Southern Plain were hit with a catastrophic dust storm known as the Dust Bowl. From acres of farms being destroyed to people losing their lives, the Dust Bowl was an unfortunate disaster. Some may say “the earth ran amok” (Doc A). The devastating Dust Bowl was ultimately caused by poor weather conditions, new farming technology and the immense removal of grass.
This over farming diminished the nutrients in the ground and removed all of the grass and sod holding the dirt in place which resulted in it creating the giant dust storms. Storms like this have happened in the past but not to the same degree. He mentions how the climate in the Southern Plains is problematic as there is little rain and every so many years there are big storms that tear throughout the area. The difference between the storms that occurred before the Dust Bowl, is that there was grass and sod keeping the soil in place instead of just bare earth with shallow roots for anything that managed to cover the earth. Worster claims capitalism and the farming practices are responsible for this as the farmers strive to make a profit without caring about the state of the land is in.
One major example of this is found in Document A, which depicts three first hand accounts and select community discussions to these majorly impactful dust storms. While this document displays the response of individuals after these storms had begun, it also displayed a lack of action and preventive measures. This examines this lack of action by stating how, “On 15 March, Denver reported that a serious dust storm was speeding eastward. Kansans ignored the radio warnings, went about their business as usual, and later wondered what had hit them” (A). This excerpt displays ways in which community members were readily able to ignore the events of the Dust Bowl.
The Charleston Church shooting was one of the worst tragedies of the year. The gruesome shooting occurred June 17, which left nine dead in Charleston. When a white male specimen 21 years of age, Dylan Roof, was more than welcome into a Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Roof came in and sat with the group for an hour before he began to fire a .45 caliber handgun into the small group.
But the dust bowl did not only kill people is also killed thousands of animals directly and indirectly. There were thousands of jackrabbits that would flood towns and be killed by the people. But the dust bowl was a good thing in the long run because every since then we have created immensely greater ways at cultivating fields to grow crops. there is no doubt in my mind the united states will go through another dust bowl for the same contributing factors that lead to the first one. That is also why I believe that the land of the Southern Plains is is great shape compared to what is once was.

The dirty thirties, black blizzards, the black rollers, the Dust Bowl goes by many names but they all have one thing in common. They all describe a remarkably scary and serious time in America. The Dust Bowl didn't just appear out of nowhere though, there were a few ways it was caused. The Dust Bowl was caused by drought, the Economy crash, and over farming.

More so, the creation of non-standard language (NSL) helped French rap progress, using syntax and abbreviations to allow words to flow better over a beat (Verbeke, 2017). By using this, it allowed that ethnic group to become closer together as many older french generations who preferred other music genres would not fully understand the lyrics of rap songs. Whereas, the ethnic group who followed rap music understood as NSL was a progressive language, becoming more common as the artists became bigger (Verbeke, 2017). This further pushes the idea of ethnic grouping within the French rap community as NSL may have been hard to understand for those not highly participating in the rap scene.
