Andy Warhol was born in 1928 in the United States. Andy Warhol is mentioned several times throughout our text book, the first time is in chapter one, on page 19. The second time is in chapter ten on page 225, and the third and final time is in chapter twenty-one on page 526.

He is most widely known as the creator of pop art. His pop art works include pictures of common household objects, like Campbell’s soup cans, and vacuum cleaners. There are also several images of popular public figures, such as Marylyn Monroe and Mick Jagger. Warhol’s use of bright colors and common objects in his works are recognizable around the world. One of his most recognizable portraits “Eight Elvises” was sold for one hundred million dollars in 2008. This sale made that one of the most valuable paintings in the history of the world. Many of Andy Warhol’s works have become highly valued piece of art, especially after his death in 1987.
Andy Warhol has been a personal favorite artist since I was young, his work was referenced in the movie “The First Wives Club” that I watched with my mother. After watching the film I began to research who Andy Warhol was, and some of the works he had created. I think the bright conflicting colors and the simplicity of the subject matter is intoxicating. The Great Stupa is a shrine that is covered in rubble and then covered in a layer of brick to form a dome. Around the outside of the dome there is a thin path way guarded by a white stone railing. There is also another wider path on the ground level surrounding the stupa. The dome shape of the stupa is a symbol of the shape of the earth. During ceremonial processions special people will walk around the dome on the narrow path behind the white stone barrier.
