The Crusades were various religious wars between Christians and Muslims. The reason for the wars was due to the Christians refusing to fall under Muslim control and wanting to fight back against them. Pope Urban II was the reason that the Crusades came to be, as it was his goal to regain control over the city of Jerusalem. These crusades were said to be violent and many lives were lost during this religious war. The goals of the Crusades were to take the holy land from the Muslims and convert it fully to Christian rule, and something else that wasn’t in their plans originally was them taking control over other territories that weren’t the holy land.
