Experimental and clinical psychopharmacology, 23(5), 324-331. doi.org/10.1037/pha0000040 A study completed by Tripp, Meshasha, Teeters, Pickover, McDevitt-Murphy, and Murphy examined the relationship between Post Traumatic stress (PTS), the craving of alcohol, alcohol demand, and alcohol related consequences. The research question in this study focuses on identifying and understanding the underlying relationship between PTS and alcohol-related consequences. The researchers hypothesize that PTS would be significantly related with alcohol craving, demand, and consequences, along with, alcohol craving and demand being significantly mediated by the relationship between PTS and alcohol-related consequences. The study recruited two hundred and sixty-four college students, from a diverse southeastern United States university. The results of this study go along with current theories on the PTS and alcohol. Based off of previous research, there is a correlation between alcohol consumption and PTS, and the present study does support this theory. The study did not produce any practical applications, but it does have social implications. College is a time period of immense socialization, and traumatic events will inhibit and harm this development. Another part of the college experience is socialization, along with the consumption of alcohol. Therefore, this study, which focuses on PTS and alcohol, may relate with the college
