The Crucible is a four act play written in 1953 by Arthur Miller. The Crucible is based on historical and true events that happened in the seventeenth century and tells the story of a Puritan society engulfed in Hysteria during what became known as the Salem Witch Trials. The trials started when a group of girls and the reverend’s daughter are caught dancing in the woods naked late at night. Even though it was against Puritan society to dance, Reverend Parris ignored it until, his daughter Betty Parris and, Ruth Putnam suddenly fell ill and suspects that they have been practicing witchcraft.
