“The Monk's Tale” is written about cultural values and how they affect people if they become too consumed by these values. Just a few examples are, power, sensuality, sexuality, lust, drunkenness, treachery, avarice and cruelty. Many people in “The Monk's Tale” became consumed with these things. The people that stood out the most to me because of their immoral acts were Lucifer, Adam and Eve, Hercules and Nero. Lucifer’s immoral act was power. He sought out to disobey god in order to have power over heaven. Power can easily drive anyone mad. We have all heard about kings and queens in history being put to death because of their obsession with power. Lucifer, however, was not put to death. He was condemned to Hell.
