“Prayers for Bobby” is an American gay movie. This movie is based on a true story which is from a book with title, “Prayers for Bobby: A Mother 's Coming to Terms with the Suicide of Her Gay Son ”written by Leroy F. Aarons. This book is written because the mother, Mary Griffith wanted to commemorate her son which was committed suicide because of her selfishness on not accepting her gay son and the betrayal of his boyfriend. This film is directed by Russell Mulcahy and released in January 24, 2009. This movie is about a gay son, Bobby with his strict and devout Christian mother, Mary.

Bobby Griffith is the main character in this movie. Bobby was raised up in a devout Christian family since he was born. One day he confides with his brother Ed, that he might be a gay. But his mother, Mary had slowly learned about the secret because Ed had revealed Bobby’s secret with his mother. After Mary learned about that Bobby was a gay, she always prays for Bobby because she believed that God can cure him. Mary keeps telling Bobby that being a gay is a sin, God hate gays and having sex with another man as with a woman is a detestable sin. Then, one day Bobby has met with his first love, David in a gay bar at Portland. But their relationship did not last longer because at one night while he was driving on the road, he suddenly saw that David is with another man. He felt too miserable and he is in a blue frank.
