For students, college is something more difficult in the first year because of the preparedness they had in high school. This article by Cara Solomon “ College-prep expectations don’t mesh with realities” is about how students in high school are not meeting college standards based on statistics and your schools classes. For, me I am halfway prepare for college with having college, meetings about college, and learning about the classes. Since freshman year I have had help in some ways to learn about what to expect with college life and my preparedness for it. As a result, my high school consist of having Indian Hills Community College classes taught in the high school and at Fairfields Career Academy, where professor teach the class. I learn that in ninth grade that some classes don’t get stuck to you with remembering things and that puts a damper on my moment later on. But with that gone already and me not thinking about it much until junior year hit that I didn’t take any college class at all. I was not prepared and was not influenced to know about it more. Eventually enrolling into some college class at the last minute opened my eyes to see that learning more college now helps me even more than it would have in ninth grade. According to Bellevue superintendent Michael Riley that he wanted “ all students required to take a college-level course in each of the four “core” disciplines before graduation,” which in fact says a lot to students even for me I would take advantage of that (Solomon 2008). He also states that, “ They might not finish college or go but at least have them ready for it” (Solomon 2008).
