President Franklin Delano Roosevelt included this quote in his speech on December 8, 1941 a day after the Japanese had attacked the U.S., “Yesterday, Dec. 7, 1941 - a date which will live in infamy the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.” President Roosevelt used many rhetorical strategies and devices in his speech to move and persuade the audience to reason with him and ultimately to go against the Japanese.
