Hundreds of thousands of Americans have lost their family and friends due to guns (Luckerson).” Former President, Barack Obama distributed a verbalization regarding the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting along with addressing many other gun violence incidents which have occurred in the past. Barack Obama delivered his speech, “New Gun Control Measures” on January 5, 2016, with the use of powerful pathos which appeals to the emotions of the audience. This was accompanied by enriching ethos which allows Barack to exploit his position, as president, to become more credible. While delivering his speech, Obama uses his authoritative glance, and elaborate hand motions to emphasize his points.
On December 14th, 2012, the lives of thousands, and indirectly millions changed after the shooting of twenty children and six teachers were fatally shot by the infamous Sandy Hook Elementary school shooter, Adam Lanza. This event was so dramatic and sickening the world stopped in it’s tracks waiting for what was going to happen next. In the aftermath of the tragedy, the cauldron was stirred and the underlying question resurfaced; What should we do about gun control laws? Should the people of America even have guns? After a number of shootings occurring and Sandy Hook occurring, Barrack Obama addressed the event and spoke about “reducing gun violence” and promoting “gun safety” drawing many citizens to support his cause.
As we all know, the Obama administration is advocating for stricter gun control. Every time there is a crime involving a shooting in the news, gun control advocates and the president use the media to persuade the public that America needs stricter gun laws. Seeing how the President does not have to do much to get publicity in the
During Barack Obama’s two terms as president of the United States, he has taken many executive actions. A lot of these have been controversial and led to backlash that he was overstepping his bounds. Most recently, President Obama announced the measures he’s going to take in order to help fight gun violence. He has already received criticism from many in the GOP, who claim these actions are not justified and he is infringing on the liberty of many Americans. These actions are warranted, because the gun violence epidemic puts many Americans in danger, and President Obama has the right to take actions to protect the security of American citizens, so long as the actions do not infringe on their rights.
To understand the extent of how common mass shooting and gun violence is in our nation and why it feels like the nations is numb to gun violence, president Obama in his last national, which he was addressing the gun violence tragedy at Umpqua Community College, Roseburg, Oregon, said, “The reporting is routine. My response here at this podium ends up being routine. The conversation in the aftermath of it. We've become numb to this.” If the president expressed his feeling towards the frequency of gun violence tragedy and how predictable giving a national eulogy was, then it would be safe for me to assume that gun violence is a national issue that needs to be addressed and since nothing has changed so far, it is evident that the presidents speech is not as impactful towards law makers and the
Have we forgotten April 16th, 2007 or December 14th 2012. Today I see mixed emotions in the audience, emotions of sorrow, and some with faith that we need to stricter our gun laws. To those people i say what use are gun laws if they don't prevent mass shootings. Killers don't care about “no gun areas” and don’t care about gun regulations. All I killer needs is a gun the maliciousness and a school to
Gun Control Debate Jake Novak, in an article for CNBC titled, “Gun control isn’t the answer. We already know how to stop the violence,” gives his opinion regarding the controversial issue of gun control. Novak argues that gun control is not the answer to rising gun violence but that proper enforcement of the law would go a long way in reducing the cases of gun violence in America. He states, “We actually solved the issue of rising gun violence in America in the mid-1990’s and again in the early 2000’s by doing something radical. We enforced the law” (Novak 28).
Gun control is necessary, and delay means more death and horror”. We as a nation need to think about the dangers that guns convey in this society. We need to think about the safety of our children, and not in the economic gains. I know this is a nation whose one of main incomes comes from the selling of arms, however, is money more important than a human life? Guns should not have the destiny of life in his trigger, no.
On, February 14, 2018, a mass school shooting in Florida got the nation’s attention, however, gun violence has always been an issue, and it is only getting worse. Now people are saying there needs to be something done, and there are many that agree. Starting off there should be stricter gun laws, because in today’s world it is too easy to get handguns and assault rifles. With, the capabilities a firearm holds, such as taking people’s lives there must be stricter restrictions that could help cut down the gun violence and save lives. Increasing the age of purchasing a firearm would be one step.
One Small Step for Mankind, One Giant Leap for African Americans During times of social and political unrest, the inaugural speech of the new President has to demonstrate that he or she has the qualities of an effective President. When asked what traits and attributes a President needs, during an interview with Dickerson, on CBSNEWS, Obama answered “… a President needs to have… a sense of discipline, … in terms of doing your homework and knowing your subject matte… vision about where you want to take the country… And finally… a “moral compass” … you really have to care about the American people- not in the abstract… but you really every single day want the best for them…” (Miller)
Gun Control When death is caused by gun violence it’s not the gun that kills, no the gun is just the instrument used to kill, it’s the human behind the gun, it’s the human pulling the trigger, also people in the end will either be for gun control or against it, I am for it, I believe more gun laws should be enforced and created in order to prevent more deaths caused by guns not just in the U.S.A. but all around the world, see gun control is a topic that is talked about often, I am going to be telling you about gun control in the U.S.A and what the main ways we can prevent them from happening are, first there should be more laws made and reinforced, also the topic about private sales, and last but not least the Second Amendment and how it does not protect your right to own a gun.
The number of incidents of gun violence last year in the United States was about 60,000. In recent years, the number of mass shooting has risen to about one mass shooting per day in the United States. The country is divided with some wanting to reevaluate our gun control laws and either ban or add additional regulations to the purchase of guns. Others say it is our right for Americans to own guns and something the founding fathers considered important to put in the Bill of Rights. The number of firearm sales has risen with the number of mass shooting many Americans question if banning guns or certain guns could help decrease the number of gun violence deaths.
Everyday in the United States, ninety families are changed forever; guns claim an average of ninety lives every day in the United States, 33,000 lives in a single year. Gun control has been a debate in the United States for many years and is constantly thrusted back into the public’s attention by horrific shootings. These shootings constantly cause individuals to petition the government to place stricter and stricter regulations of guns. However, these policies cannot be the solution to this problem. To determine a solution that will be both effective and constitutional, we must look at statistics and research that has been conducted to determine the best course of action.
“Just in 2018 there has been 18 school shootings, on average per week” (snopes:How many school shootings have taken place so far in 2018). The incidents that have occurred have been a big impact in people 's lives. Yet no one with power has spoken about the problems regarding the recent shooting. See, there are two main sides of gun control, the side that agrees and the side that doesn’t. People who agree believe that no one should be able to own a gun, or that there should simply be stricter gun control laws.
The sound of a gun shooting is probably the worst and most terrifying sound that people want to hear. However, nowadays people in the United States are attacking by this sound more often due to the lack of gun control. The function of the guns is very limited.
