Elections take place in every country around the world. Political parties of all types are either being elected into power or ousted out of their position they already held. The French presidential election was a special one. This election was different because neither candidate, Marine Le Pen of the National Front, nor Emmanuel Macron of the En Marche, won the majority. Winning the majority means they received more than half the votes of the people. In order to determine a president, the French government held a second round in May where the people voted again. The citizens chose their new president, but in the eyes of some people this decision might not have been what they were hoping for. The outcome of the French presidential election may bring a level of change not all French citizens truly want and may affect them in ways they cannot foresee. He has been talking about giving his wife a position since his campaigning days and made it very clear he wanted her to have one. The French people are not so sure it is a good idea for her to have an official role because in order for her to hold an official position, it would require a separate budget and an office paid for with taxpayer dollars. Shortly after announcing his plans, many citizens signed a petition protesting Brigitte being put into an official government position. In addition, there is a measure currently being debated to ban family jobs within the French National Assembly.
