Cinder and Kai both got their respective thrones, but they finally realized that this would cause them to be apart. I am glad that they touched on the fact that Cinder had zero experience in government and that leading would not be easy for her. I didn’t even have a problem with her want to dissolve the monarchy on Luna, because that made sense. What I didn’t like was that someone who did not want to be Queen would agree to be Empress by marrying Kai. While the argument could be made that she would be able to make changes while not having the burden of all of the responsibility on her, it just doesn’t make sense. Why not set up Luna like England currently, a monarch and a parliament, so that relations could be fostered between Luna and Earth more effectively? Either Cinder wants to lead or she doesn’t, having her alright with it just to marry Kai really doesn’t do justice to her characters. Scarlet and Wolf were my favorite couple throughout the series. There was mutual respect and loss between the two of them. Scarlet and Wolf were both permanently mutilated from their time on Luna, Wolf far more than Scarlet, but it is something that they are going to deal with. Still, I find it hard to believe that they couldn’t do some sort of surgery on Wolf to make him a little less wolfish. Still, I’m glad that their plan was to travel for a while and then settle down on the farm. Very fairytale ending that I was alright for
