After the struggle of trying to figure out how to advance our lives with technology while still protecting the Earth we cherish, we have unfortunately failed. Now that the climate change here on Earth is uninhabitable, it is time for the lucky remaining souls to pack up our things and move to Mars. This is a bittersweet situation and it shows that even though we have to leave the place we once called home, we have made such advances in science that we are able to travel to another world and bring artifacts that will be shared and talked about for future generations to learn about how life use to be. The two primary kinds of states are Principality and Republic. Principality is a nation governed by a “prince” aka a King, while Republic is governed by representatives of the people. Principality has two ways of coming into being. One way is by having the authority handed down from one generation to the next and the other way is having it be acquired which is authority acquired though conquering a state, or by fortune/luck. The Republic is acquired by what the people are wanting in a leader by voting. The Prince taught that ethical principles of Christianity (or any religion for that matter) cannot be used in politics if one is trying to stay in power. It suggests that one must think like their enemy even if it is not adhering one’s principles. It is even said that “fear is greater than love” (Machiavelli 131). A leader that is feared has more control over people who believe that their leader loves because the people that are in fear will make sure that they are on the ruler’s good side. They play more bluegrass and folk music that reference a lot of old literature such as William Shakespeare. The themes of love, God, and adventuring life are found in their music. A quote that directly involves love and is from Shakespeare’s literature is from a song called “Sigh No More,”. The quotation states “Love it will not betray you, dismay, or enslave you, it will set you free be more like the man you were made to be” (Dravs). I believe that this song lyric shows how through the generations recognize the idea of love as prevalent in our society. A song that I would take to Mars would be “Awake My Soul” because it represents individuals in the 21st century, because it talks about what we want in life: to be loved. This individual is trying to find love through someone who does not deserve their trust. This can be seen in the line that says “I struggle to find any truth in your lies” (Dravs). They are trying to hold on to hope that they can be trusted. The song then goes on to say “where you invest your love, you invest your life” (Dravs); this is to show that one must be careful with whom they give their hearts to, because one will give their life for and to them. The idea of love is tied into faith because the song repeats “for you were made to meet your maker” (Dravs).
