Each day people die of terminal illness. The ones who are left alive, almost within death’s embrace, experience intense suffering and pain, their quality of life hitting an all time low. As more and more people are diagnosed with chronic illness, you too could be ill. If not you it could be a family member, a friend. Obviously this is a rather large issue that can be very emotional for people, but what if you could make it all stop with a tiny little pill? Sure, it’s enough to kill you but it will most certainly be less painful than experiencing the illness to it’s full. This is called assisted suicide or, euthanasia. However, his cause of death was not the cancer that plagued him, but rather an overdose of painkillers. He had asked his daughter to hand him a bottle of medication. She did so and watched as he practically drank all of the pills in the bottle. The hospital was called, leading the man with the death he did not desire. This death was being in a hospital and suffering, rather than in his home. The daughter was charged with assisting suicide and was put under arrest. Many people debate whether or not Euthanasia is legal, using this story as a valid example. While some argue that the woman should have stopped her father from committing suicide, and therefore she should be charged with murder, others believe that her father should have had the death he wanted. This is only one example of many cases across the United States of the terminally ill committing suicide.
