From the brief interview with Xiao Jia, we can know that the problem is occurred between her and her friend, Ms Ng when they are staying with each other in the same house. To solve this problem, we will suggest using 2 counselling theories, which are Person-Centered Therapy (PCT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) during the counselling session. Person-Centered Therapy, also known as client-centered psychotherapy, is a humanistic approach contends that that clients can be trusted to establish their own goals and monitor their progress towards these goals, and all individuals have inherent self-actualizing tendencies (Nystul, 2010). In another words, we will have to see the world from the client’s view point. To understand the experience and feelings of the client accurately, we will ask for clarify whenever there are unclear statement during the counselling session. For example, we will focus on exploring Xiao Jia’s feelings and experience when she is interacting with Ms Ng and make sure that there inconsistent statement throughout the counselling session by confronting it. The first irrational belief she is holding is that the assumption that Ms Ng has betrayed her trust towards Ms Ng by spreading rumor of her when she is her friend since secondary school based on the statements made by her other friend. We will try to dispute this irrational belief by asking her some question that will make her aware of it. For example, we might ask about the credibility of her friend that told Xiao Jia about this issue, the difference between the personalities of Ms Ng that she knows and she was told, and did she ask for clarification from Ms Ng herself regarding this issue. The second irrational belief we found is that she thinks that she has known her well since they have known each other for 6 years but in reality there are many discrepancies between the Ms Ng that she perceived and the Ms Ng that she knows. It can be seen during the interview when she is keep on giving the assumption for the reason of Ms Ng’s action and her personality while she says that she could not understand Ms Ng. This is the core irrational belief that caused her to have negative feelings towards Ms Ng. We will try to ask for more clarification towards the statements she made regarding this to make her aware of her irrational belief. In conclusion, we could use Person-centered
