In the book the “House of Hades” by Rick Riordan we see lots of plot lines. These plot lines all help us see the struggles that these characters have to deal with and their motivations, some characters have multiple problems that they are dealing with.
Specifically, one character that deals with lots of problems is Frank(son of Mars). One problem that Frank has to deal with is his father who is split between two personalities who are constantly arguing in his head. For instance, the text says “ Immediately, his splitting headache returned, along with the voices. Fight them! Yelled Mars. Take this ship! Defend Rome! The voice of Ares shouted back: Kill the Romans! Blood and death! Large guns!”(Riordan, 115-116) This shows that Frank is having a tough time because he is getting headaches from this. To add on, Frank is dealing with another problem----he feels like an outsider from the rest of the group the one that doesn’t fit. Therefore, Frank goes on a mini-quest to find the god Triptolemus. Frank ends up having to save his friends his friends all by himself and in doing so he becomes bigger and stronger. This shows that problems can be solved. …show more content…

One problem that Nico has to deal with is leading the crew to the House of Hades like he promised Percy he would. This takes a toll on him because leading a group of teenagers while fighting monsters constantly is not an easy task. Another problem is that Nico secretly has a crush on Percy. This is revealed to us when Jason and Nico encounter Cupid. Cupid forces Nico to admit it to Jason. This whole thing has been hard on him because he got upset when Percy and Annabeth started dating, he then ran away and now lives his life alone. Nico also has to deal with the things he has seen.
