Professionalism is an important conduct of individuals in every job, career, and even some students while attending school. I understand professionalism to be the art of carrying oneself, handling, and resolving situations with the utmost integrity, confidence, and respect. By embodying professionalism while at your job, career, profession, and while attending school in many circumstances, it allows for situations, conflicts, and relationships to be in favor of a positive outcome.

I knew I had work at 5:30pm so I made sure to set an alarm for 3:30pm to make sure we would make it back in-time for me to be at work on-time. By 3:30pm we were in the car heading back to my apartment in Tampa. However, there were 2 major accidents that added 30 minutes to our trip. Once I got back to my apartment, I then had to get dressed for work then drive an additional 45 minutes to Wesley Chapel (where I work)- google maps showed I wouldn’t get back to my apartment by 5:30pm. So, while driving out of St.Petersburg I made the call to my manager. She did not pick up on her personal phone so I left a voicemail with the concern and issue that I would not be able to get to work on –time. I then called my store’s phone number and talked to her. She was over-stressed, exhausted, and certainly did not hold back on delivering honesty with an attitude and complaint of me not being able to get there on-time and it’s affects. Though I apologized and said I would be getting there as soon as possible, I am certainly expecting a discussion on the situation and any possible consequences with her when we work together again. It was certainly unprofessional of me to leave the beach even earlier than planned due to any traffic or accidents, calling her personal cell phone and leaving a voicemail before calling the store directly, and allowing such a situation to occur at my job.
