Program Reflection During the length of this program, I have learned a lot and was challenged too. Each course provided me with new information and also challenged me in different ways. As a result of this program, I feel that I have improved my knowledge and skills. When I started the program, in the fall of 2014, I became extremely overwhelmed. I put a lot of thought into things and tend to go above and beyond what is asked of me. I am passionate about my job and I enjoyed the opportunity to increase the depth of my knowledge on certain topics related to my professional goals and values. The knowledge that I have gained throughout this program will continue to be applied in my classroom in the years to come.

This course emphasized on environmental factors that affect children’s learning such as growth rate, individual potential, cultural, social and emotional factors. This course gave me a better understanding of what I knew, and things I did not know. I have taken everything I have learned and begun using it in my classroom. I have managed to take a closer look into my student’s social development. I ask more questions to get to know them and their family. I want to know where they come from so that I can evaluate the effective way to teach. I feel like there is always something to learn and I can always learn something new no matter the topic. For example, I knew about the social aspect of family and development, but I did not know much about Urie’s theory about Ecological Systems.
