Comp Class Reflection Essay

This year of Comp classes has taught me a lot, and helped me with the way I write. This class has made me a better writer, and allowed me to work on areas of writing that I have never been good at. I have noticed my writing improving with all the new methods we were taught, and all the grammar lessons we had to learn throughout the year helped me write my sentences in a better, more uniformed way. I have improved on most of my weaknesses and improved my strengths. My strengths for this class was being able to portray my thoughts through words, and being able to make a story out of it. In the beginning of this class I was able to write a decent story, but as the class I went on I figured out that there were improvements to be made. I think this growth area improved a lot and I did this by replacing common words with bigger words by using a thesaurus at the end of my essays. My essays started to sound more intelligent and like they were coming from a person my age with a well diversified vocabulary. The second growth area that I have improved a little is punctuation. I do not get as many points taken off due to commas as I did in the beginning of the class. To improve this area I used paper rater and took a look back on lessons about punctuation that I could use in my essays. My third growth area is passive voice, and that area has not improved much. I think this is because it is hard to put a person in the beginning of each sentence if an essay is not about a living object so my verbs a lot of times give action to non living objects. Paper rater picks out a lot of my passive sentences and I can never seem to find a way to change around the sentence to remove passive
